Monte Gordo is an established holiday resort with a blue flag beach that is located in the East Algarve region of Portugal. The East Algarve is the most sheltered part of the Algarve and temperatures are generally higher than that of the western resorts.
There is a choice of bars and restaurants in Monte Gordo together with a casino that hosts a cabaret show. Local restaurants specialise in seafood, offering fresh fish provided by local fishermen. There are also Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants in the resort.

On the outskirts of the city, 2.5km from Monte Gordo, is an IAAF accredited sports complex. The complex is equipped with modern facilities that attract top athletes. The complex caters for several sports and is used by UK Athletics for warm weather training. There is an 8-lane ‘polytan’ track at the complex together with indoor training facilities.
The mild climate combined with the natural surroundings of pine forest, the beach and facilities available at the sports complex make Monte Gordo a perfect warm weather training location that is easily accessible from the UK.
