Notably, the venue has hosted the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in 2000 due to it top-notch facilities, and has catered to a wide array of track and field athletes including; sprinters, hurdlers, and triple jumpers. Nearby paths cater to adventurous athletes who can visit Vilamoura’s beautiful sandy beaches that stretch along the coastline all the way to Faro.
The Algarve
The Estádio Municipal de Quarteira Complex is located between Quarteria and Vilamoura in the Faro district, Portugal. The complex includes both Outdoor and Indoor facilities; High jump and pole vault areas are also available, and runners are given the option of both road and off-road opportunities, as excellent trails are located within a kilometer of the track. A gym can also be found at the stadium.
The 400m tartan track at the athletics stadium provides the ideal setting for peak performance. Complete with essential amenities such as a medical center, physiotherapy room, sauna, gym, and ample seating for 600 spectators, there are also changing rooms and outdoor lighting for evening training sessions.
